Out-going State Senator Dale Schultz sharply criticized his fellow Republicans’ policies this week in a Madison radio interview, saying the state has “walked away from” its responsibilities of providing a quality public education for all. Nearly half of Wisconsin public schools will receive less general school aid this year, while unaccountable private voucher schools have seen a dramatic increase in government subsidies. “The vast majority of Wisconsin students attend neighborhood public schools, but it’s clear they are not a priority for the current governor,” said WEAC President Betsy Kippers, a Racine teacher.
